The European Dressage Championships in Rotterdam have finished.
We can be brief: after the Nations Cup Adelinde Cornelissen and Parzival won everything. She added some excitement by forgetting a line, but cool headed as she is, she fixed it and won anyway. In the freestyle you can ride your own lines, so she won that too. Afterwards, I have never seen her embrace so many men before. The Nations Cup had a remarkable outcome: the British riders have won, with the Germans trailing and the Dutch behind them for bronze. The established favorites like Holland and Germany have been beaten by a relative newcomer with fantastic horses: Great Britain has, besides Mistral Hjoris, two extra candidates for olympic medals with Valegro and Charlotte Dujardin, and Uthopia and Carl Hester. That's fantastic news for the sport: now no one can predict the outcome anymore! There are suddenly many horses that, providing they are in shape, can win an olympic medal in London next year.
