Today the nominees have been announced for the prestigious "Silberne Kamera" - the silver camera - photo prize of the CHIO Aachen, the wonderful show in Germany.
In 2011 Arnd Bronkhorst won third prize and this year Arnd is nominated with a picture of Adelinde Cornelissen winning the World Cup final 2012 at Indoor Brabant, 's Hertogenbosch, the Netherlands. On it Adelinde is shown between the flags of Holland and Germany. Behind the German flag Helen Langehanenberg is hidden. Anticipating on what was going to happen, Arnd was in the right place at the right moment to capture Adelinde's face between the two flags while they were being raised. The three nominees have been chosen from 50 candidates. The jury included show jumping rider Jos Lansink, show director Frank Kemperman and photographer Julia Rau, last years winner. The photos of the nominees will be exhibited during the CHIO Aachen. The prize will be announced in the main arena on Saturday July 7th. The winner receives the "Silberne Kamera" trophy and the considerable amount of 2500 euros. Second prize is 1000 euros and third prize receives 500 euros. On the evening of Saturday July 7th the nominees enter the main arena by carriage, after which it is announced who won the "Silberne Kamera". Up to that point the photographers don't know who won either. Just great for Arnd, to be standing there naked, without a camera.... A very special nominee is Ludwiga von Korff. Special, because some of her photographs are also in the online horse photo library of www.arnd.nl. This means that two out of three nominees are part of www.arnd.nl's "stable". Ludwiga has made a magnificent image of Janne-friederieke Meyer, who conquers the last fence on her way to winning the Grand Prix of Aachen 2011, a dream come true for her. Remco Veurink, photographer for Dutch magazine "Hoefslag" is nominated as well. He has promised to buy everybody a drink if he wins, so do report to him!
